lost Wax Process or Investment Casting
Investment casting or 'lost wax process' is one of the oldest methods of casting to metal and some say as old as 5,000 years. Originally ancient metal workers used beeswax and sand to create the pattern. Now there are high quality waxes and very fine mediums available to create a superior casting that reduces the need for costly finishing operations. Also new processes allow for casting of more than 20 ferrous and nonferrous metals including stainless steel, carbon steel and tool steel.
